- Hello, I'm Mike.
- I'm currently a PhD student studying MLLMs with a focus on grounding and multimodality.
- Previously, I worked on Hover AI where we developed AI agents to serve as interfaces between users and their OSes.
- Before that, I was a graduate student at the University of Alberta and Amii. I worked with Greg Kondrak, doing AI research in Large Language Models, Reinforcement Learning, and Computer Vision.
- In the long term, I look to build systems that holistically understand the world and lead to transformative AI.
- Before graduate school, I was a Software Engineer at Helicarrier (YC S18) — where I did some especially cool work related to order books — and Moniepoint.
- I'm also interested in Astronomy and spent a summer working with Erik Rosolowsky on predicting star-forming regions from radio signal data with machine learning. I volunteer at the University of Alberta’s Astronomical Observatory as well.
